Ataşehir Sevinç Schools Nursery Project
A colorful and safe gateway to the imagination of little ones; a space full of discovery where play and learning intertwine.
A project for the nursery within Sevinç Schools in Ataşehir. At nursery scale the reference for design is the child, not the adult, and that changes every dimension from eye level to the height of fittings.
Basin, cupboard and hook heights were set to children's scale. Corner details were softened and flooring chosen to prevent slipping. These decisions follow not only from regulation but directly from daily use.
The relationship between the play area and the interior was made continuous, aiming for an arrangement in which a child is never unsupervised during the transition. A calming rather than stimulating palette was chosen — the idea that a children's space must be full of bright colour is a common misconception.
