Architectural Design
Architectural design is the work of deciding what a plot can become. How many square metres may be built is answered by the zoning status; how those square metres are arranged is answered by the design. Two different projects on the same plot create two entirely different ways of living out of the same area.
We always begin with the land: the slope, the orientation of the view, the path of the sun, the shadow of neighbouring buildings, where the entrance will be. A plan drawn before these are resolved looks good on paper and proves wrong when lived in. Massing, floor arrangement and facade language grow out of that reading.
We run the design alongside the budget at every stage. A project that cannot be built gains nothing from being beautiful, so we take material and system decisions early, while the cost can still be changed.
